Dear Mother Considering an Abortion,
Today marks the 41st anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision that ruled it to be unconstitutional for states to ban abortions except in the case to save the life of the mother. That ruling essentially gives you a legal option to abort your child. A few years ago, the National Right to Life News estimated that there have been 54,559,615 abortions since this decision. That is far more than the entire population of California. Right now, you may be considering adding to that number.
I’m not sure why you are considering the abortion. Maybe you feel that you aren’t ready for children. Maybe you believe that the child will hinder your lifestyle. You may be trying to finish school or land that job that you’ve always wanted. And you are convinced that your child will slow you down. Maybe you just do not want to be a mother. Whatever the reasoning is, you and I both know that you believe taking your son’s or daughter’s life will lead to a better life for you. And if that’s not the reason, what is?
Let me encourage you if you are considering an abortion to look to Jesus. He was sacrificed so that you might have abundant life. He willingly laid down His life and died the death that you and I deserve to die. You will never find life by taking it from your own son or daughter. You will only find life by turning from sin and trusting in the Risen Savior Jesus Christ.
It is amazing that I have to tell you this, but your child is a gift from God. Psalm 127:3 says, “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.” You too were a gift to your parents – from the moment you were conceived. The child you have has been given to you by the good pleasure of God Almighty. He has given you a stewardship to take care of that child. The safest place on earth should be the mother’s womb. Will you care for your child?
Understand that the decision you are contemplating will never bring you joy. Don’t believe the lie. It is a decision of death for a defenseless child who is depending on you for life. And I know that deep down, you know this to be true. After all, you too depend on God for your very breath and life. Look to Him. Turn away from even considering an abortion. Find life in Jesus Christ. For He gave His life so that you might live.
God has providentially allowed you to read this letter at this time. You may not think the decision is easy, but let me assure you that it is simple. Don’t take the child’s life.
